Dalam sebuah perang, panji menjadi tanda kesatuan tentera. Fokus dan moral tentera kekal segar dan utuh jika mereka lihat bendera pasukannya kekal teguh. Ini antara sebabnya mengapa Ja’afar sanggup bergadai nyawa demi mempertahankan panji atau bendera tentera Islam.
