| description | This is an eigth-volume critical edition of al-Gharaib al-Multaqah min Musnad al-Firdaws, a hadith treatise composed by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani (852AH/1449CE). It is also named Zahr al-Firdaws. In this work, Ibn Hajar extracted all hadiths that he evaluated as gharib (rare) from Musnad al-Firdaws, a compilation made by Abu Mansur al-Daylami (558AH/1163CE). The third volume consists of 407 hadiths and the number of references consulted in this volume exceeds 800 titles. This work is of important value to all those dealing with hadith criticism as it offers for the first time the isnads of numerous widely-circulated hadiths and contributes to the study of Islamic thought and civilisation. |
