Description
Summary:Mitochondria play a crucial role in plant cryopreservation, with recent studies showing reduced ATP production and respiration post-cryopreservation. This research assessed high-throughput methods for measuring mitochondrial function, investigated cryopreservation’s impact on mitochondria, and examined cryoprotective agents' effects. Results revealed significant reductions in ATP-linked respiration and increased proton leak, highlighting mitochondrial dysfunction as a key factor in cryopreservation outcomes. Future research should explore mechanistic pathways to improve cryopreservation success and mitigate oxidative stress-induced cellular damage.
