Join CCWA, for our next Environment Matters forum – WA’s Nature: From Crisis to Action, as we give an overview of the current state of nature in WA, learn more about CCWA’s new Nature Program and hear from our line-up of guest speakers on the all-important question – how do we move from crisis to action?
Western Australia is home to a diverse array of unique plants and animals found nowhere else in the world. Unfortunately, the number of endangered species continues to rise each year, while wildlife habitats are rapidly disappearing. In many places the expanding exploitation of natural resources and climate breakdown pose unprecedented threats to our ecosystems.
What’s more, under pressure from powerful vested interests, the federal nature law reform process has slowed, and the WA Government is proposing measures that would undermine the independence of the WA Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), our state’s environmental watchdog.
What’s in store
We need bold, urgent and decisive action, with new ways of thinking and working together to tackle these environmental challenges and protect our precious wildlife and biodiversity in a rapidly changing environment.
At Environment Matters we aim to build awareness, inspire action, and create a positive vision for the future. We will explore the challenges facing the little penguins on Penguin Island and delve into ‘Rewilding,’ a global movement dedicated to restoring natural ecosystems.
