| Summary: | This thesis attempts for the first time to bring together the healing aspect and sensing aspect of concrete together through coupled numerical models supported with experiments. The models involve addition of biological agents and carbon fibres to form a self-sensing self-healing concrete, which can not only predict an oncoming crack, but also heal the crack, and monitor its post-healing performance. Such properties will render this the construction material of choice for the new generation. |
