Integrated Petrography, Geochemistry and Petrophysical Characteristics of Miri Formation, Sarawak, Malaysia

An integrated approach (Petrography, Mineralogy, Geochemistry, and Petrophysics) was used to elucidate the paleoweathering, provenance and tectonic setting of the Miri Formation and its reservoir potential. description An integrated approach (Petrography, Mineralogy, Geochemistry, and Petrophysics) was used to elucidate the paleoweathering, provenance and tectonic setting of the Miri Formation and its reservoir potential. The research suggests that the sediments of the Miri Formation were mainly recycled from the Rajang Group, undergone moderate to intense weathering and deposited in an evolving active to passive margin setting. The reservoir quality of the Miri Formation has been assessed and their controlling factors are addressed.
