Use of UV/Chlorine as Advanced Oxidation Processes

This study focused on comparing the formation of DBPs for both UV/chlorine and dark chlorination using different water matrices. As such, pH variations, degradation of NOM or Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC), specific ultraviolet absorbance (SUVA254nm) value, and chlorine residual were measured during...

description This study focused on comparing the formation of DBPs for both UV/chlorine and dark chlorination using different water matrices. As such, pH variations, degradation of NOM or Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC), specific ultraviolet absorbance (SUVA254nm) value, and chlorine residual were measured during these experiments. Analysis of chlorate ion, absorbable organic halides, trihalomethanes, haloacetonitriles, haloacetic acids, haloketons, and haloacetaldehydes were carried out for both UV/chlorine and dark chlorination treatments and the results are further discussed.
