Summary:The study introduces a novel framework that combines conceptual, hydrological and statistical models to study water resources on short-term and long-term scales. It improves the performance of a common conceptual model and its extended version to estimate water balance components of the case studies. Moreover, a conceptual-statistical model is developed to further increase the performance of the original models. The proposed method is a useful approach for other catchments particularly, where limited data is available.
