| Summary: | Multilevel cascaded inverter based static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) system and its control scheme were designed and implemented to achieve low-switching frequency and high-bandwidth power control. The gain parameters of PI-controller were also formulated to obtain the best values for achieving good dynamic and transient performances. To verify and validate the aforementioned work with Matlab/simulink, the proposed system was simulated to provide different simultaneous functionalities: namely, (i) reactive power compensation and (ii) active harmonic filtration at th epoint of common coupliing under balanced loading conditions. |
