Summary:This work evaluates the reliability of VSP related slowness and slowness-polarization methods for local VTI and orthorhombic anisotropy parameter estimation that can be utilized as a seismic time-lapse tool for monitoring CO2 injection into geological formations. The uncertainties have been quantified through the inversion of several numerical and synthetic datasets and the results of this analysis were used to validate seismic anisotropy parameter estimation from VSP measurements at CO2CRC’s Otway geosequestration site in Victoria, Australia.
