Short Wave Infrared Alteration Maps of a Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide Deposit: A case study of the Bentley Deposit, Western Australia

description The Bentley volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) Zn–Cu deposit is located within the Eastern Goldfields Superterrane, Western Australia. A model of footwall alteration at the deposit was created using Shortwave Infrared Spectroscopy (SWIR). This technique enables rapid identification of alteration assemblages and their compositional variation. The presented study provides a framework that can be applied to other VMS systems, and shows that SWIR can be used to interrogate minerals associated with other hydrothermal deposit types.
