| Summary: | Yafei Wu’s PhD project has explored different ore-forming aspects of a world-class Chinese orogenic gold deposit. The results show that orogenic gold could be sourced from either metamorphism or magmatism. Silica has an important role in gold transport. Gold zoning in pyrite records both fluid conditions and local kinetics. Gold significantly redistributes during pyrite replacement. The knowledge gained increases our understanding of the genesis of orogenic gold widely distributed in Australia, New Zealand and worldwide. |
