Summary:This research aims to develop an innovative framework to evaluate the social and environmental impacts of road maintenance activities and integrate these impacts to enable sustainable road maintenance decision making in Australia. The usefulness of the framework, including the indicators, their calculations and potential implementations, is also presented, using real life scenarios. The road agencies can usefully adopt the results of this study for developing sustainable maintenance activities, such as selecting truly sustainable maintenance activities.
