Effect of lime treatment on static liquefaction behavior of sand-bentonite mixtures

| description | This research investigated the effect of lime treatment on the static liquefaction behavior of sand-bentonite (SB) mixture by conducting a series of undrained monotonic triaxial compression tests. The effects of two bentonite contents (i.e., 0% and 10%), four lime contents (i.e., 0%, 3%, 5%, and 7%), and three initial relative densities (10%, 20%, and 30%) under an effective confining stress of 150 kPa were investigated. The results showed that lime treatment is effective in improving the static liquefaction strength of the tested specimens. In addition, lime treatment changed the SB liquefaction behavior from limited liquefaction to nonflow. |
