description For his exhibition The Lacrima Chair at Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (6 March-25 April 2015), Shaun Gladwell produced a body of works that included an artwork-book, titled ’Self-Portrait as a Semiotext(e) Foreign Agent’, 2015. The book contains two original essays. The first is co-authored by Gladwell with Denise Thwaites and Paul Patton, the second I Gladwell co-authored with me. This has been a vital part of the Phase II of my StudioCrasher research, for which I have been focusing on four artists as they produce a work or body of works for an exhibition. Gladwell is one of those four artists, and our collaboration on this work allowed me valuable insights into the work processes of Gladwell as we worked on this collaborative artwork together.
