| Summary: | Ethylene-mediated abscission and senescence of floral organs cause serious economic postharvest losses in waxflower (Chamelaucium spp.). The efficacy of new compounds in modulating floral organs abscission and vase life was investigated. Amongst different compounds tested, trans-cinnamaldehyde, 1H-cyclopropa[b]naphthalene, 1H-cyclopropabenzene or 1-hexylcyclopropene fumigation (1 μM) were effective in inhibiting abscission of floral organs in different waxflowers genotypes. trans-Cinnamaldehyde or 1-hexylcyclopropene in combination with different vase solutions were effective in extending flower and leaf vase life of waxflower. |
