description Extended Industrial Pollution Events (EIPE) such as Love Canal, Minamata Disease and Esperance Lead produced undesirable consequences to the economy, public health, society and environment. Unlike traditional linear-causation analysis of industrial incidents, this research employed a cross-disciplinary approach to investigate the complex, systemic factors contributing to EIPE. Qualitative case study, systems methodology and focus group were used to develop qualitative models and formulate comprehensive preventive strategies to reduce the likelihood of EIPE.
