Description
Summary:In order to understand the environmental geochemistry of the Lower Baram River, seasonal surface water and sediment samples, core sediments, and root, bark and leaves from mangrove trees were collected and examined for major, trace and rare earth elements. The provenance and prevailing geochemical processes which govern the characteristics of water and sediments were revealed. Further, risk assessment and bioaccumulation of trace elements as well as the mechanism of element uptake in mangroves were discussed.
