Shale Play Assessment of the Goldwyer Formation in the Canning Basin Using Property Modelling

This study assesses the potential prospectivity of the Goldwyer Formation of the Barbwire Terrace, Canning Basin. This included the estimation of TOC, porosity, water saturation, and brittleness. Each property was modelled across the terrace. Generated sweet-spot maps showed that southern flanks of...

description This study assesses the potential prospectivity of the Goldwyer Formation of the Barbwire Terrace, Canning Basin. This included the estimation of TOC, porosity, water saturation, and brittleness. Each property was modelled across the terrace. Generated sweet-spot maps showed that southern flanks of the middle Barbwire Terrace of the top Goldwyer zone is the most prospective area. Given the relatively low TOC and porosity values, these properties are the deciding factors of the shale prospectivity.
