description Instructors and students recognize the complexity of photosynthesis. The influence of a teaching intervention with multimedia and interactive activities on university students’ comprehension, retention, and perception of photosynthesis was evaluated by quantitative and qualitative data. Students’ comprehension was not significantly improved and retention was only partially enhanced. Qualitative data showed learners’ positive perceptions toward the intervention. Therefore, future modifications of the intervention could produce an effective tool to improve students’ comprehension and retention of photosynthesis.
