Characterisation and Properties of Biomass Compost Pellets

The purpose of this study is to identify relationship between the processing condition of pellet mill, material parameters, and the physical properties of the empty fruit bunch compost pellets. Increasing the moisture up to 15% (w.b.) with smaller particle size found to improve compaction behaviour,...

description The purpose of this study is to identify relationship between the processing condition of pellet mill, material parameters, and the physical properties of the empty fruit bunch compost pellets. Increasing the moisture up to 15% (w.b.) with smaller particle size found to improve compaction behaviour, pellet strength, and nutrient release characteristics. A new model is proposed describing the pelleting pressure correspond to the die geometry and material properties which could aid in optimising pellet production.
