Description
Summary:© 2016 IEEE.This paper has focused on the operation of floating battery energy storages (BESes) as a technique to avoid the overloading of an islanded remote area microgrid which does not have access to a utility feeder. A suitable semi-decentralized technique is designed which is highly suitable for remote area microgrids, which mostly lack a communication infrastructure. Proper conditions and constraints for the operation of the battery energy storages are mathematically developed and validated under different scenarios by digital simulations in PSCAD/EMTDC.
