Description
Summary:The thermal behavior of subsoil affected by GCLs hydration performance is investigated for isothermal conditions at room temperature for several months. Results are reported for one woven non-needle punched type of GCLs. A sand foundation soil is examined. The subsoil thermal behavior is shown to be directly dependent on the scale effect. GCL absorption and consequently its thickness are directly affected by scale effect. For the smallest scale; 100mm diameter test cell, lowest thermal reaction was recorded while the largest scale with 300mm diameter showed strong thermal reaction over 16 weeks. However, this series stated strong thermal mechanism in middle layers among upper and lower layers of the subsoil.
