Optimization of various cutting parameters on the surface roughness of the machinable glass ceramic with two flute square end mills of micro grain solid carbide
Due to brittle nature of advanced ceramics surface damage, cracks, and edge chips are common problems when machining them by using conventional methods. Selection of proper cutting parameters and cutting tool may help to minimize the above mentioned problems. Cutting process of Machinable glass cera...

| description | Due to brittle nature of advanced ceramics surface damage, cracks, and edge chips are common problems when machining them by using conventional methods. Selection of proper cutting parameters and cutting tool may help to minimize the above mentioned problems. Cutting process of Machinable glass ceramics in end milling operation has been carried out using two flute square end micro-grain solid carbide end mills under dry conditions. The development of surface roughness model in terms of cutting speed, feed rate and axial depth of cut using Design of experiments and the Response surface methodology is presented in the paper. ANOVA analysis has been carried out to identify the most significant factors affecting surface roughness and the optimal cutting combination has been determined. |
