| Summary: | This article provides a critical discussion about the formative stages of a current Australian Research Council research project investigating the Australian Football League's racial and religious vilification laws. Using a multidisciplinary research framework the research evaluates Indigenous and multicultural policies in the broader context of the public policies about community harmony, reconciliation and diversity. Central to this approach is an examination of the Australian Football League's Rule 30. It evaluates the roles of key industry, government, community and academic stakeholders and briefly considers the theoretical and practical challenges of researching multiculturalism, harmony and reconciliation.
