Damage identification of a segment of a box-section girder subject to a moving Load

description This paper proposes a substructural damage identification approach based on a dynamic response reconstruction technique using the unit impulse response function in the wavelet domain. The relationship between two sets of time-domain response vectors from the substructure subject to a moving load is formulated. The damage in a segment of the structure is identified from the measured dynamic responses without information of the moving load using the response sensitivity-based method. The adaptive Tikhonov regularization technique is adopted to improve the identification results when noise effect is included in the measurements. A three-dimensional box-section girder subject to a single moving force is taken as an example to validate the proposed method of substructural damage identification with good results.
