Summary:In this research a small size downhole turbine motor was designed to be used in coiled tube drilling for applications in mineral exploration. The motor should provide a very high output rotation speed as it is used for drilling hard rocks. Numerical simulations using ANSYS was carried out in this study to model fluid flow and mechanical integrity of the designed motor. The optimum design was proposed for drilling using water and air as drilling fluids.
