| Summary: | This paper provides a review of intelligent agents’ use for supporting e-learning environments especially for group and collaborative environments. While multi-agent systems possess the properties of group interaction, negotiation, and collaboration for group goal attainment, these interesting properties are related to e-learning domains and presented in this paper. Several educational research efforts are promoting collaborative learning (CL) in the classrooms and are widely supported. Still the methods of CL are not fully adopted in classrooms. Our purpose of this paper is to answer the questions of whether and how agent systems can assist and facilitate collaborative learning in e-learning environments. The paper also provides a review of research work related to this issue. |
