| Summary: | This paper deals with the effects of depth-of-cut and phosphorus content of electroless-nickel plating on diamond cutting tool performance, surface roughness, and surface appearance during ultra-precision machining of electroless-nickel plated die materials for very long cutting distance. The experimental results show that electroless-nickel with higher phosphorus content performs better in all aspects of machining performance in terms of tool wear, surface finish and cutting forces. It was also found in the study that cutting with a lower depth-of-cut of 2μm would result in higher tool wear compared to a 4μm depth-of-cut. |
