| description | This study develops recommendations for sustainable urban storm water management in the Town of Victoria Park, Western Australia. Five infiltration sumps with different types of land uses were selected in the Town of Victoria Park. Series of field tests were conducted durning storm events and total deposited sediment has been estimated after the rainy period. The Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) was used to model the annual soil loss within the catchment of these sumps. Field tests show that different land uses create different sediment processes. A high correlation coefficient of R2 = 0.71 was obtained between modelled soil loss and monitored, verifying the accuracy of this model. Based on the output of this research and Water Sensitive Urban Design concepts, some recommendations and guidelines were developed for the management of urban storm water and infiltration sump maintenance. |
