| Summary: | This thesis focuses on synthesis of various types of metal-based catalysts and testing their catalytic activities for activation peroxymonosulfate for degradation of aqueous organic pollutants. Catalysts’ dimensional effects on activities were investigated by preparing catalysts in different shapes. Magnetic separable metal-based catalysts were also developed to minimize the heavy metal leaching problems. Studies further revealed that hydroxyl and sulfate radicals are the dominant reactive species for the decomposition of organic pollutants. |
