| Summary: | Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia lack awareness of intellectual property and how that relates to the sustainability of their business. In this paper a discussion on recognized intellectual property (IP) rights, legislations applicable to those rights, enforcement in Malaysia, and the benefit of complying with the IP laws and/or regulations is to be considered. It is forwarded that awareness of intellectual property rights would assist the SMEs to better position itself in a business perspective and undertake measures which could assist in sustaining their business in the 21st century business environment. |
