| Summary: | Worldwide issues concerning the environment and depletion of fossil fuels have hastened the development of sustainable polymer materials from plant oil with biodegradable and renewable properties. Current research has indicated that modification of monomers by plant oil leads to the improvement of biodegradable properties but at the expense of decreased mechanical and thermal properties. In light of this, the synthesis of well-tailored biobased polymer/clay nanocomposites including compatibility of coupling agent and processing parameters should be optimized to obtain enhanced mechanical, thermal, and biodegradable properties of end-user products.
