| Summary: | Increasing engagement and inclusion of employees with diverse backgrounds in the workforce has led to more interest and a corresponding need for more research in this arena. The dynamic shifts resulting from globalization, employee mobility and broader societal integration of employees requires that leaders are highly astute about making diversity a strategic imperative in the workplace due to the complexity and depth that is now commonplace with employee demographics. This paper explores the opportunities for increased diversity awareness, acceptance, cooperation and integration in the workplace based on the use of the proposed GRACEFUL framework. This concept aims to provide a diversity lens through the use of an easily-recalled acronym which may encourage employees and managers to be more considerate of some of the most common dimensions of diversity prevalent in the 21st century workplace. In addition, this work opens the door for future research and ongoing dialogue about the potential benefits of using this framework.
