Summary:A simplified water balance approach is used to evaluate the impact of climate change on water resources within Western Australia. Two indicators; water availability index and groundwater recharge are used to express the predicted impacts. The HadCM3 climate model and the CSIRO-MK3 model provided the most relevant data for the given region of Western Australia. The largest water availability index throughout the selected climate models was in the far northern region of the state, closer to the towns such as Kalumburu. In contrast, the least water availability was found in the southern interior and the mid-western interior. These trends could be verified within the groundwater recharge results.
