This paper investigates the thermal behavior of a three-axis CNC machine tool by machining several workpieces at different thermal conditions, analyzing the dimensional accuracy of the machined workpiece using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and directly showing the relationship between the dimensional accuracy of the workpiece and the machine tool’s thermal status.
