COMP: An endogenous thrombin inhibitor

In this issue of Blood, Liang and colleagues<sup>1</sup> demonstrate that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) acts as a major endogenous plasma- and platelet-derived inhibitor of thrombin activity in vitro and in vivo.
