Critical success factors are important influences that contribute to project success. This paper reports the outcome of a survey on critical success factors derived from the responses of 150 members of the Australian Institute of Project Management. A synthesis of the responses discerned fifteen critical success factors, of which two were predominant - project understanding and competent project team.
