Summary:This thesis describes a three-phase mixed-method investigation into the utilisation of antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care among women living in squatter and non-squatter settlements of Ward 34, Kathmandu, Nepal. The study sought to increase knowledge about the utilisation of maternal healthcare services and to better understand how and why inequalities in utilisation may arise. The results highlight the need to address the provision of maternal healthcare for the poorest women in Kathmandu.
