| Summary: | The Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance at 200 feet (LPV-200) is a set of procedures for aircraft precision approaches down to 200 feet (61 metres). With the modernised GPS and emerging GNSS constellations, it is aimed to globally fulfil requirements of LPV-200 with integrity monitoring by the years 2020-2025. This will support the use of GNSS as a supplementary (and ultimately a primary) means for aircraft navigation. In this study, the current capability of the Advanced Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (ARAIM) approach in Western Australia (WA) is investigated. Two cases are considered, the first when using GPS alone and the second when augmenting GPS satellites with the current regional BeiDou constellation. The LPV-200 requirements are first reviewed. Next, the ARAIM methodology is discussed. Allocations of different cases of integrity faults using GPS and GPS+BeiDou are proposed. Testing of ARAIM over WA included two parts; the first part investigates availability of ARAIM using GPS only. The data used were collected at six IGS stations close to main airports in the region. Due to BeiDou data availability, testing of its actual data with GPS data was only performed at one site. Results show that the current GPS constellation alone does not fulfil LPV-200 requirements in WA. However, using BeiDou with GPS improves availably of ARAIM and its integrity performance. |
