description Increase in mental health research has lead to an accumulation of mental health information. This information covers different aspects of mental health domain and provides a huge range of results. There is a need for an effective and efficient system to enable intelligent use of all this information. Specific and targeted searches are very difficult with current search engines as they look for the specific string of letters within the text rather than its meaning. Even within a specific resource, such as PubMed, it is difficult to find, link and share specific information when needed. In this paper we present a system resulting from synergy of ontology and data mining technologies. This system uses the Generic Mental Health Ontology to perform intelligent information searches. Furthermore, it uses data mining algorithms to analyze the retrieved information, and extract patterns and knowledge hidden within this information. The ontology and data-mining work in concert to increase value of the mental health information within PubMed database.
