When it was revealed from Almighty Allah, the Qur'an must have extra ordinary privileges, and will not be matched by any form of writing either in terms of its language or content. Among the characteristics of the Qur'an, it contains elements of al-ijaz (inimitability) and al-tahaddiy (challenge) which will not be denied by disbelievers. In addition, the major discussion among scholars on al-ijaz is related to the stylistic of the Qur'an. It is known as al-ijaz al-bayaniy or al-ijaz a!-lughawiy or al-ijaz al-balaghiy. Based on the consensus of the scholars about the existence of al-ijaz al-bayaniy in the verses of the Qur'an, this paper will discuss two types of styles (uslub) in the Qur'an known as uslub al-hakim and iltifat. Both styles are seen as an example for proving the existence of al-ijaz al-bayaniy in the Qur'an.
