Dual or double employment is defined as having double paid jobs, either as an employee or as being self-employed. In certain situation, there might be employees who are doing multiple jobs with different employers. The issue of dual or double employment has been subject to a debate. While some of employers allow its employees to engage in dual employment, India labour law clearly prohibit this practice. As to date there is no specific law regulating dual employment by employees in Malaysia. The purpose of this article is to discuss the position of dual employment in selected countries and under Malaysian employment law.
