Nonetheless, the experience can be made more enjoyable and less frustrating if some issues are given due attention. One of the issues is understanding students’ affective domain such as their beliefs about the learning process. This aspect, which is often neglected, is as important as the cognitive aspect such as intelligence and aptitude. Thus, the study was conducted to investigate student teachers’ beliefs about learning foreign languages namely Arabic, Japanese, Thai and Madarin. Students from diploma in TESL in UniSZA were chosen as respondents in this study. An instrument, BALLI, which is a measure of students’ belief about language learning was the primary instrument for data collection. The data were analysed descriptively. Findings indicate that the beliefs held by the student teachers are positive regardless of the foreign languages studied. This finding has several practical and pedagogical implications.
