Non-native learners often encounter difficulties, particularly in acquiring proficient speaking skills, which are crucial for effective communication. To address these challenges, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools have been increasingly incorporated into educational settings, leveraging their potential to enhance language learning outcomes. This study examines the impact of ICT integration on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers through the development and use of an educational application aimed specifically at improving speaking skills. The application, named TA’ALLAM AL-‘ARABIYYAH, was designed and developed using the ADDIE model, a systematic framework comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. This structured approach ensured that the application was pedagogically sound and aligned with the learning needs of non-native Arabic speakers. A quasi-experimental research design was employed to assess the application's effectiveness, involving both pre-tests and post-tests administered to experimental and control groups. The study sample consisted of 76 students from Spectrum International Islamic School (SIIS), who were purposively selected to represent a diverse range of non-native Arabic-speaking backgrounds. All participants were at the beginner level of Arabic language proficiency. The experimental group integrated the TA’ALLAM AL-‘ARABIYYAH application into their traditional curriculum, while the control group relied solely on conventional teaching methods. Statistical analyses, including paired-samples t-tests, were conducted to compare the speaking proficiency of the two groups. The results revealed that the TA’ALLAM AL-‘ARABIYYAH application significantly improved the speaking skills of students in the experimental group compared to those in the control group. This highlights the potential of ICT tools to transform language education by providing interactive, engaging, and effective learning experiences. Moreover, the study underscores the importance of innovative instructional design, as demonstrated by the successful application of the ADDIE model in the development of this educational tool. These findings emphasize the need to integrate ICT tools like TA’ALLAM AL-‘ARABIYYAH into language learning curricula to complement traditional teaching methods. Teacher training plays a crucial role in this integration, ensuring that educators are equipped to utilize the application effectively and adapt their teaching strategies accordingly. Additionally, fostering a balanced development of all language skills and creating engaging educational resources can further enhance the learning experience and support non-native speakers in achieving proficiency in Arabic. uuid:ABA470E5-1410-4B1A-8842-F6556516188C IMPROVING ARABIC SPEAKING SKILLS OF NON-NATIVE ELEMENTARY ARABIC LEARNERS THROUGH THE MOBILE APPLICATION TA ALLAM AL ARABIYYAH (MASTER 2025).pdf |
