Disruptive student behaviour significantly impacts the teaching and learning process, necessitating the implementation of appropriate management techniques. The purpose of this study was to examine the level of disruptive student behaviour between Form 4 and Form 5 students, to identify the similarities and differences in classroom management techniques implemented by classroom teachers in handling disruptive students, and to explore students' perspectives on the classroom management techniques used by teachers to handle disruptive behaviours. Furthermore, the study analysed the influence of these techniques on student behaviour. The participants included 110 students and 30 classroom teachers selected using stratified sampling. Data collection methods comprised closed-ended questionnaires for quantitative data and interviews with students for qualitative insights. The findings indicate that while common disruptive behaviours, such as loud talking during class and boredom, are frequently reported, more severe behaviours, such as physical aggression and bullying, occur less frequently. A clear trend shows that teachers place a strong emphasis on communication-related strategies, with the highest-rated techniques being providing clear instructions, setting clear expectations, and providing individualised attention. These strategies significantly reduced disruptive behaviours and enhanced classroom engagement. In conclusion, targeted classroom management strategies and tailored teacher training are essential to fostering a positive and conducive learning environment. Schools and educators should implement targeted classroom management strategies and provide professional development opportunities to address disruptive behaviour effectively and foster a positive learning environment. uuid:3DA119FC-D330-40F7-BF17-9E70443BCB5D ENHANCING CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES TO HANDLE DISRUPTIVE STUDENT BEHAVIOUR AT SMK MALIM, MELAKA (MASTER_2025).pdf |
