However, this craft is declining due to its labour-intensive process, reliance on Sarang Telepuk, which is no longer produced, and limited public awareness. These challenges hinder artisans' ability to create new motifs and sustain production. This study aims to revitalise the Telepuk craft by addressing its decline through strategic design solutions. The researcher employed a qualitative approach, conducting semi-structured interviews with experts and a case study to validate a craft revitalisation framework. The research focuses on three objectives: (i) enhancing awareness of Telepuk's intrinsic cultural value, (ii) fostering collaboration between designers and artisans, and (iii) modernising production processes and introducing new Sarang Telepuk designs. Key findings reveal that revitalising Telepuk requires integrating traditional craftsmanship with contemporary technology to meet modern demands. By balancing cultural heritage with sustainable design principles, the study underscores the significance of meaningful, culturally valuable products amidst globalisation. New Sarang Telepuk designs were developed and tested, demonstrating the feasibility of incremental, adaptive strategies based on artisan capabilities. This research provides a roadmap for preserving and advancing Telepuk as a vital cultural heritage. uuid:7635E1FF-ABC9-48FA-A64F-1E17CC8F47F7 REVITALISATION OF THE MALAY TRADITIONAL CRAFT OF SARANG TELEPUK THROUGH DESIGN FOR SUSTAINABILITY (MASTER_2025).pdf Thesis
