This puts substantial pressure on organizations to use green management practices to improve their environmental performance. This study was conducted to examine GHRM, namely green recruitment and selection, green training and development, green compensation and rewards, and green performance management, and how these impact their organizational environmental performance mediated by academic citizenship behaviour in Jordanian universities. In this study, the GHRM acts as the independent variable, while organizational environmental performance acts as the dependent variable, and academic citizenship behaviour has been identified as the mediating factor. Methodology: This study used the quantitative method by employing descriptive and inferential research design. The data were collected from all government universities in Jordan, which involved 404 academicians selected through a simple random sampling technique (probability sampling). The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) AMOS. Results: The main findings indicate that the direct effects of green human resource management practices, namely green training and development, green recruitment and selection, green compensation and rewards, and green performance management on an organization’s environmental performance, were insignificant. However, these green human resource management practices positively influenced academic citizenship behaviour. Moreover, academic citizenship behaviour had a positive and significant direct effect on organizational environmental performance. Additionally, academic citizenship behaviour (ACB) mediated the relationship between green human resource management practices, namely green training and development, green recruitment and selection, green compensation and rewards, and green performance management with organizational environmental performance, supporting indirect effects. Conclusion: This study offers a significant theoretical contribution by amalgamating green human resource management, academic citizenship behaviour, and organizational environmental performance, particularly within the higher education context. A new framework is derived using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), illuminating the nexus between these variables. The findings of this study hold significant implications for government management bodies, departments, and higher education ministries, particularly in Jordan, as the adoption of green human resource management practices and their impact on environmental performance remains nascent. It enriches the body of knowledge by elucidating the relationships between GHRM, ACB, and environmental performance, providing insights into sustainable practices in universities. Also, the findings inform curriculum development, enabling universities to integrate the latest insights into environmental management and sustainability into their academic programs. 2025-04-04 uuid:584c5e05-eff8-47cc-8062-d0cdd7e15243 THE IMPACT OF GREEN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON ORGANIZATION ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE MEDIATED BY ACADEMIC CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOUR IN JORDANIAN UNIVERSITIES.pdf Mohammad Noor Khaled Alqudah Thesis |
