Therefore, the main aims of this study were to investigate the impacts of these strategic orientations on performance of Homestay and examine the mediating effect of entrepreneurial orientation on the relationship between market orientation and performance of Homestay. The proposed hypotheses were tested using survey responses from a sample of 120 managers of Homestay enterprises in Malaysia, which were obtained by self-administered questionnaire. The selection of respondents was done using simple random sampling. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM).The findings of the study show that market orientation has a positive influence on performance of Homestay enterprises and entrepreneurial orientation. Additionally, the findings reveal that entrepreneurial orientation has a positive influence on performance. Moreover, entrepreneurial orientation partially mediates the relationship between market orientation and performance. While contributing to theoretical aspects, the results also present useful practical insights for Homestay management to adopt market and entrepreneurial orientation strategies to achieve greater business performance and remain competitive. Limitations of the research and recommendations for Homestay management, tourism sector, policy makers and government, potential investors, and future research were also discussed.
