In fact, by applying social innovation, SEs provide workable solutions with the ability to sustain changes in the form of organizations, management practices, and processes. The importance of social innovation has increasingly gained attention due to its alternative method of solving societal crises in the long term and its role in social development plans, which use well-prepared and intellectual approaches to address social issues and bring forward resources for sustainable growth. However, social enterprises in Malaysia are still operating less efficiently, lacking organizational capabilities and support for social innovation in providing their products and services to the community. As the demand for social innovation increases, SEs are expected to be more effective and efficient in providing services for the well-being of society. Social enterprises should have the ability to transform their organizational capabilities into effective solutions in order to achieve sustainability in social innovation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the effect of social enterprises' capabilities, organizational support for innovation, and social innovation, and eventually propose a scale model for social enterprises. The study employs a quantitative method to quantify and analyze variables in order to obtain results. A purposive sampling technique is applied, and a cross-sectional design was used with 134 social enterprise respondents in Malaysia. The findings of the analysis utilize partial least squares (PLS) to examine the direct and mediating effects of hypotheses. PLS assisted in testing the hypotheses, which included organizational capabilities, organizational support for innovation, and social innovation. Bootstrapping was later conducted to investigate the standard error of the estimate and t-values. The assessment of the path coefficient signs and the significance of the path coefficients revealed the results for the structural model in this research. The results indicated that only three path coefficients were involved in this research: social enterprise capabilities and social innovation, social enterprise capabilities and organizational support for innovation, and organizational support for innovation and social innovation. All these variables were found to have a significantly positive direct effect. Therefore, these relationships are contingent upon scaling social innovation. The findings have important implications for social innovation in social enterprises in Malaysia. Social enterprises can expand their potential by applying social innovation when serving customers or the community. In fact, by encouraging and training their employees in innovative ways, they can produce knowledgeable employees who are capable of managing social enterprises efficiently.
